I am going to try and keep a record of this Neighborhood Library public commission through this blog. I will update with photos of progress and what not, and you can see the level of crazy crocheting thats about to start and continue for the next few months.
To begin I guess I will talk a little about the commission for those who don't know. It is a commission for a permanent public sculpture in the Vinson Neighborhood Library here in Houston, TX. It was commissioned by the City of Houston, through the Houston Arts Alliance. Back in the summer of 2009 I submitted images and a resume and was chosen as one of three artists to do a full proposal for the library project. My proposal was chosen, and since then its been contracts, insurance, invoices, animal fabrication, and slow progress.
Finally its about to be my time for serious working. Geese are being completed, the baby elephant is is its final stages of production, and yarn has been bought. Tomorrow I begin to crochet!
